Grade 3 Teaching Kit: “Community Development – The History of Logging”

A recent update and revision of an old favourite, the grade 3 teaching kit, was completed and work-shopped with forest educators in the Southern Interior this fall. The new version will be introduced to teachers throughout the year and is also available on this website. Teachers are welcome to download all materials from the website for use in the classroom.

This kit, via a video, slideshow and storybook, offers students a look at logging from the past and provides opportunities for them to compare it with present practices. It has students collect and record data on the various resources and employment services that support their community and the key events that have taken place over the past 100 years.
